The Comox Valley is known for welcoming visitors and residents to a variety of events and festivals offered throughout the summer. This area has a mild climate and outdoor events are held throughout the year, and especially in the summer! Come and visit one or more of these festivals and enjoy the variety of music, food and art. Here are some of the highlights, taking place in July and August.
July 1 | Courtenay Canada Day Celebrations
Courtenay’s Canada Day brings people and performers together to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Live free performances will take place in Simms Park and Lewis Park. The annual parade takes place on 5th Street and will lead spectators to different live entertainment and events in the downtown and surrounding areas.
July 8 – 10 | Vancouver Island Music Festival
The Vancouver Island Music Festival has grown into one of Canada’s premier Roots, Folk and Global Music Festivals. Enjoy listening to musicians from around the world on multiple stages, located at the Courtenay Exhibition Grounds. This festival also focuses on offering workshops, jam sessions, song circles and concerts. There is also a children’s activity area. This festival is located on the scenic Comox Exhibition Grounds.
July 28 to 31 | Filberg Festival
This renowned festival showcases all forms of artisans and musicians at its best. Artisans from all over Vancouver Island and throughout BC gather here to display and sell pottery, art, jewelry, paintings and more. Stroll through the 130+ booths and enjoy listening to entertainers from across the country. The Filberg Festival is hosted in the historic Filberg Park, with its stately trees and waterfront frontage in Comox.
July 30 – August 1 | Comox Nautical Days
Family-friendly activities are featured at Comox Nautical Days. The BC Day Parade starts off the celebrations, along with a vintage car show. Enjoy the rides, games and crafts and enjoy a meal or snack from one of the many food trucks on site. The Quality Foods Festival of Lights Fireworks Extravaganza concludes the celebrations on August 1st.
August 20 – 21 | Cumberland Wild
Cumberland Wild is a two-day music festival in the heart of Cumberland Village featuring a variety of live bands and unique electronic acts; plus Forest Camping and all your favourite DJs playing a late-night Silent Disco on both nights!
August 26 – 28 | Ribfest in Cumberland
Sponsored by Strathcona Sunrise Rotary, this tasty event will take place over three days and features some top-notch world-class rib cooks on hand. Listen to live music while you enjoy the delicious food. It is fun for the whole family.
